StrengthYoga And Pilates : A Powerful Combination For Women over 50!

Yoga concentrates on large, functional movements to increase our overall strength and flexibility in the spine and limbs. Pilates on the other hand, focuses on building a deep core strength – a powerhouse – and correct muscle activation, which is amazing for alleviating back pain, injury prevention and creating a long, lean body type.

Both have transformational health benefits and have been proven to reduce stress, anxiety, rehabilitate certain injuries and improve awareness of our bodies and emotions through breath and movement.

Building A Balanced Exercise Routine

Our body adapts to a workout by getting stronger, it becomes easier. However, after a while, the workout that was once hard for you will no longer give you the same results. At such a time, a personal trainer can be used to help you break your plateau and sometimes bordon.  Not only is this psychologically helpful but by switching things up you are not putting the same stress on your body which helps reduce your chances of injury. This is what our workout routine is all about, using different modalities at every workout so you never having to worry about fatigue r bordelon from a workout routine.

Staying active is not a science. Just remember that mixing different types of workout and exercise movements will help to both keep your workouts interesting and improve your overall health because you will be much more committed to your workouts. The key is to find activities that you enjoy—based on the four building blocks of fitness. These will be: Strength, Balance, Flexibility and Cardio.

The benefits of an integrated Strength, yoga and pilates into your practice

By adding different training modalities into your training program will help prevent plateau and challenges your mind, muscles, joints and body awareness. By using this method of training you prevent burnout or over-training which happens more than you think. As you get old that risk goes up. Strength

Strength training, builds muscles that support you in your everyday life and boost your metabolism. From a basic starting point you can expect to do calisthenic type exercises such as push-ups, lunges, squats, crunches, burpees, but as you progress you would move towards lifting dummbells, barbells. and using machines to build your strength.

Yoga

Yoga is a safe and low impact way to increase physical activity – especially strength, flexibility, and balance. More than a physical workout, yoga is a full mind and body exercise.  It is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.  The beauty of yoga is that you don’t have to be a yogi or yogini to reap the benefits. Whether you are young or old, overweight or fit, yoga has the power to calm the mind and strengthen the body.  When you add in the meditation expect its really is life changing in so many ways

Pilates

Pilates is a system of repetitive exercises performed on a mat or equipment to promote strength, stability, and flexibility. However, with our program we will be doing mat pilates and the use of machines will not required. The focus of Pilates is that a lot of the exercises are develop through muscular effort that stems from the core of the body. The technique cultivates awareness of the body to support everyday movements that are efficient and graceful.
